The Group
The Golds consist of  runners who are  expecting to run marathons between 4:00 and
4:40 and half marathons  between 1:55 and 2:15.  This group is considered the sanest
of the bunch.  An easy run will range between 8:45 and 9:40 minutes per mile.  This
groups is also for a number of experienced runners who are not currently training for a
race but want to stay in shape.  The Golds are currently led by a team of group leaders
from the Greens and Blues.

Note on paces: Running with a group will almost always increase your pace over
running by yourself.  A 30 second difference per mile is not uncommon.  However, if you
are certain you will run over a 4:40 marathon or a 2:15 half (after our great training), then
please contact us prior to joining.

The Workouts
At CBRC we recognize that not everyone is training for a race or that some people don't
have the ability to commit to the  training program we set forth.  Coach
es Kevin Haas and
Paul Donnelly
have designed a marathon program to optimize club members' talents
and give them the greatest chance to run to the best of their abilities on race day.  This
general program is designed for runners who want to improve their speed and
endurance.  The program for the Golds is modified to account for the runner who has
less time, less mileage, or less speed.

As with the other groups, CBRC recommends a strength program as both a training tool
and life enhancement.  Toward this end, CBRC implements the weightlifting and
strength program of
Discover Strength.  The Golds as a group will follow the workout to a
point, with the mileage or number of hill or speed repeats possibly being reduced.  The
Gold runners will also have the option of skipping Monday's organized run.  Please note
also that all runners have the option to do more or less than the group workout on any
given day.
