An Introduction Welcome to the Calhoun Beach Running Club (CBRC), the premier run club in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota! Specifically, we're located in the Uptown or Lakes area of Minneapolis, amidst the most beautiful urban running trails in the world. The Calhoun Beach Club sits on majestic Lake Calhoun at the intersection of Lake St. and Dean Pkwy, right on the Grand Rounds of Mpls.
Come for the Run, Stay for the Fun! This has been the running club's motto for each of its nine years, and we're proud to say we live up to our intended goals. We combine great coaching, top-notch facilities, comprehensive training schedules, fun runners, and social activities into a package that no running club can compete with.

CBRC Running Groups Everyone joining the CBRC joins the Run Club, and those that want to train with coaches during the various training sessions will join the Training Group. We define the Training Group as those runners who elect to receive a schedule or otherwise choose to run with the Training Group runners. Each year there are guaranteed to be at least two training sessions based around Grandma's and the Twin Cities Marathons, and in 2007 we also trained for Boston and various other races. The Training Group right now is divided by speed into three sub-groups: Greens, Blues, and Golds.

Fun fact: Runners do not have
to be members of the Beach
Club (pictured) to be members of
the running club. More than half of
our runners are not.
Fun fact: In the summer,
CBRC women outnumber
the men. In the winter, it's
the opposite. Here we are
enjoying cool, post-run
beverages at Stella's
rooftop after a Thursday
evening run. Carbo-loading,
you might say.
Fun fact: When nine runners live on a diagonal in
Uptown, the rules say they must play host to a
progressive party at least twice a year.
The schedule for CBRC is set up to ensure a
coach is present for the club that meets that
day. When the weather gets warmer, we'll
meet a little earlier on Saturday mornings.
We meet on the hour, give announcements
at 10 minutes after the hour, and get out the
door as close as we can to 15 minutes past.
Schedule
Fun fact: In 2004 four runners ran Grandma's
Marathon. By 2006 we had 40 runners run TCM, 10
more did the 10-mile, and 40+ more ran another
marathon/race or just ran with us for fun. We've
grown!
The running club meets in Calhoun Beach Club, but you do not have to be a member of
the CBC to join the running group. Many runners do become members, but those who
don't still enjoy these amenities on run days:

want to look at our links page. See also our race page for 5k, 10k and more.
If you are having difficulty finding a place to stay in Duluth during Grandmas
weekend, please contact us or ask a coach. Likewise, if you need
transportation from the Twin Cities to Duluth for Grandmas, let us know. Our
coaching staff is familiar with the logistical problems involved with Grandmas,
and we will do whatever we can to help get you and the rest of the group a
close distance to the race.
If there is a 5k, 10k, half marathon, or some other distance you would like to
race in preparation for the marathon, please bring it to our attention. We enjoy
new lakes and trails and definitely need a break from the lakes and trails in
southwest Minneapolis.
Remember, the kickoff for Grandma's Marathon training is set for mid-February
. The start of Boston training is early January. Call Cari Tschida at
612-925-8336 for more information.
